Yorokobi by Reclaimed DesignWorks features charred western red cedar burnt in the Japanese style of shou sugi ban. Yorokobi can be used for interior wall or ceiling cladding and is standardly select tight knot grade. Yorokobi can be treated to Class A Fire Rating for Interior Application – please call to inquire.
Yorokobi is carefully charred, misted with water, cooled, and brushed. The top coat sealer is applied prior to shipping (for exterior applications, we recommend sealing the backside as well as the face). The burning process accentuates the wood grain and creates varying colors when viewed from different angles and in different light.

Charred cedar features shou sugi ban charred western red cedar in a range of colors from a stark, vertical grain black to a knotty natural brown. Western red cedar has been used as a consistent and high performing exterior wood siding for hundreds of years. RDW's charred cedar can be used in similar exterior applications and interior wall/ceiling cladding.
